Monday, May 6, 2019 - Summertime Is Coming

We worked on getting our drip system and sprinklers up all day today (Sunday) before taking a shower and getting ready for my online concert. (I’ll reflect on the concert below after I finish.) We have a lot of drip system running all around our property to trees and shrubs, and then a decent-size front and back yard with an old sprinkler system that usually has leaks to be fixed every spring when we turn it on. It’s always a lot of work getting everything set up and then trimming trees and suckers and planting grass. In addition, all summer there are early mornings after walking Beau when I’ll chop weeds and fix road after we have big rains. And there are other things to be busying our time with getting ready for summer. I’m learning and rehearsing songs and practicing guitar to be ready for my summer duo gigs at the Royal Gorge Bridge with my friend Dennis Mills, who’ll be playing bass and singing with me Mondays and some Tuesdays and other days on the big stage on the south side. Plus there are many other gigs and things to get ready for. This is always an exciting time of year! And it seems like the years roll around more quickly as they go by. I don’t mind. It’s all part of the experience in this life. And finally this Sunday I’ll be thinking of my mom and all moms. The relationships we have with our parents are so precious, and the memories grow sweeter as time goes by even after they pass. Enjoy this beautiful time as the season ramps up to the frenetic summer.

What have I been up to?

Last Friday was a very nice time at Bistoro. So many folks came out to join in. So fine!

Sunday was my first-Sunday online show. I somehow messed up so that it charged folks and kicked some off. One day I’ll figure it out. We had fun though with an interesting mix of songs.

What am I up to this week?

Sunday 10-11 I’m playing for Cuchara Chapel services and Mother’s Day. I always enjoy these mornings in this beautiful and rustic chapel, and I’d love to have you if you’re up for a special morning in the mountains. The Timbers in Cuchara should be open for a yummy lunch/brunch afterwards.

That’s it for this week. Have a wonderful Mother’s Day, and enjoy this last breath of Spring before the summer starts.

Best always,

Tom
