Monday, March 2, 2020 - Giving

I’m in contemplation mode again this morning. I’m writing a song for chapel this Sunday, and I’m thinking about the topic of giving and how it affects our lives. I’ve written about this before. We are beings who are meant to be part of the flow of life. When love flows through us we are fulfilled and beneficial to everyone around us. Often that love is expressed through giving - especially of ourselves and our time. We can’t know this until we are actually in the act of giving. And it is karmic, but that’s not the reason for doing it. I think that instead of receiving externally after we give, we actually draw on the well that flows and grows inside us with the giving. I often use the analogy of priming the pump, and I think it is actually that - the more we love and give the more we have within ourselves to love and give. So instead of giving because you expect something in return, give because it opens you up to joy and more giving from within. You see, I think we actually draw our strength from the flow of energy from our perception of God, the universe, or the field of spirit that we all share and are part of. It’s a great reservoir of consciousness that we are all part of unawares. The act of loving and giving taps us into this energy. It is truly what drives the whole universe. So I encourage you to give whenever you can, and be confident that you will not be depleted but filled instead. Then expect and accept the joy and love that will overflow you and make your life more fulfilling and meaningful.

What have I been up to?

Last Sunday was my online concert on Facebook Live. I had a great turnout, and I did a mixture of favorites for old friends and Irish songs for St. Patrick's Day. It was a blast! Thanks to everyone who tuned in. If you missed it you can always catch it on my Facebook page. You may have to scroll through my latest morning-walk photos to get back to Sunday’s date and video on my profile page. I link to on my artist page too.

What am I up to this week?

Friday 6-9 I’m back at Bistoro for our first-Friday evening. I have such a wonderful group of folks who come see me at Bistoro. Joette and Pellumb have created a wonderful atmosphere of creativity and love with their food and presence that draws remarkable people. My music fits right in, and the folks I draw enrich the pot. It’s marvelous. Come on out if you can.

Sunday morning I’m at Cuchara Chapel 10:30-11:30 to lead music and sing the song I’m writing that I mentioned above. I know Reverend Eileen will have a special message that will lift folks higher. Come on out if you’d like a little inspiration in the beautiful mountains of Colorado Sunday morning.

Sunday afternoon I’m sharing the stage with Don Richmond at 3:00 to benefit our good friend Johnny Watson who had a stroke in January and is in recovery. The benefit is going from 1-7 at the Pueblo Federal Building Ballroom, 421 North Main Street. They have silent auction items, lots of good music, and tasty treats and beverages. There’s more on the event page on Facebook. Please come out if you can.

That’s it for this week. There are lots of fun things coming up. I’m doing an Irish concert with Celtic step dancers at the Bell Tower in Florence on 3/14.  I’m playing a concert with Daniel Market at the La Veta Mercantile  on 4/10. I just contracted with the Royal Gorge Bridge to play all the Mondays between Memorial Day and Labor Day and also three weekends with my duo partner Dennis Mills. And there’s much more. Best to you, and I hope you get as much from giving as you can.

Best always,

Tom
