It's a new year & time to start dreaming & making all my plans for the upcoming year. There are some very exciting opportunities this year.
My current projects are:
Song of Pueblo oratorio - I’m the musical director of this ongoing project. It tells the history of Pueblo & southern Colorado through song & narration. It was written by Daniel Valdez, the noted actor & theater star from L.A. I perform with 3 other musicians - Johnny Watson on percussion & vocals, Linda Amman on key & vocals, & David Enke on mandola, guitar, banjo, & Indian flute. We do at least one show a month from April to October at the El Pueblo History Museum in Pueblo as well as many specialty shows throughout the year.
Royal Gorge History Show - I contract 7 days a week from Memorial Day to Labor Day to do this show about the history of the Royal Gorge region & perform 6 shows a day every afternoon at the Royal Gorge Bridge at the Entertainment Gazebo on the south side of the bridge. I’ve been doing this show for about 5 years now. My good friend Dennis Heid fills in for me when I have other gigs in the summer.
Cowboy Americana album - I finished this album last May & am still promoting it in new & interesting ways. I may put together a touring show eventually featuring cowboy music. This may also be in connection with my friend, Ronald Roybal, who is famous for his many “NDN” albums as he calls them.
Outwest program for the El Pueblo History Museum - this is an educational community outreach program that I’ll be performing this spring & fall at several schools throughout the area with a museum interpreter & historic artifacts. It features the history & music of the cowboys, so it’s right up my alley.
Social Marketing promotion - I’ve been building a presence on FaceBook & MySpace (more on FaceBook) over the last few months to help connect with old acquaintances & to promote & inspire my albums & writing.
Alzheimers Therapy & Nursing Homes - I perform these during the winter months to serve my community & get a chance to do the old songs that I learned from my dad. This is very rewarding work. I learn new tunes & requests constantly & funny stories I can tell at these performances.
Independent Rep for Bose Corp - I represent the Bose L1 system as an independent representative, a “Referral Specialist” as they call it. If you’d like a demo of this system, give me a yell.
Writing my next album - I’m always putting together my plans for the next album. I’ve been writing for the past few months, so my next album may be an original album if I can make myself bare my soul to the world.
